Lovely hotel - nice size rooms, bathroom was more than adequate, great location. Cons: Poor lighting (for make-up purposes, continental breakfast was so meager that after a couple of days we went out for breakfast - for the price, they could throw in a couple more cereals or some yogurts.

Large room and comfortable bed. Much more room than at most NYC boutique hotels. A little pricy but not too much so compared to NYC hotel prices during the summer tourist season. Only complaint is that we were on the 16th (top) floor and the elevators were incredibly slow --- sometimes we had to wait almost 10 minutes for one to arrive.

Very nice hotel. Asked for a King, however was not available on a non smoking floor, so I was given a queen room. I was okay with that. Small hotel, eight rooms to a floor, but nice and clean.

Overall, our stay at the Blakely was pleasant, but not outstanding. Reading the overview of the hotel on Quikbook, the ratings were very impressive, and I expected something spectacular. Upon entering the room, I noticed that the color palette was rather bland. Though some have said the room has a homey, lived in quality, I was under the impression that it was a bit old. And even though we were on the 12th floor, noise still found its was from street level to our room (facing 55th). The strengths of the hotel are in the service of the staff and the in house restaurant, Abboccato. Both the front desk and housekeeping were very accomodating. The room itself was spacious and the bathrooms were better than average, but the shower head really isnt comparable to many other hotels in New York. Though this hotel received full marks for hotel/business features, there is only one computer available to hotel guests in the lobby. Though I understand that features encompass many aspects of the hotel and not just computers for public use, I found this a bit inconvenient. Based on the Q ratings, understand that the service level received full marks, but how can hotel, business, and room features have received perfect ratings as well? Im simply not convinced that this hotel is better overall than Cooper Square, Hotel on Rivington, Smyth, or the Surrey. In my opinion, the level is completely different.

I love the Blakely. I think the staff is very friendly, the rooms are clean and lovely and the beds very comfortable. Recently, they added a free continental breakfast in the dining room. It is a very welcome addition to their already great hotel. I give it a complete thumbs up.
