The Gotham Hotel on 46th Street is located between 5th Avenue & Madison just 3 blocks from Times Square & the Theater district, 4 blocks from Grand Central and 4 blocks from Rockefeller Center. Great price for NYC and hotel location. However, the rooms do not have a safe deposit box and the front desk said they have a handful that they bring to the room..... very strange, given that safe deposit boxes must be bolted to the wall so as to not have anyone walk away with it. A 4 star hotel MUST have in room safe deposit boxes.

This new hotel is still working out some of the kinks, but overall we had a nice stay. For some reason they thought at check-in that I had booked two rooms (not the case), but this was quickly corrected. Like the intimate feel - only four rooms per floor. The welcome glass of wine was a nice touch and the light breakfast (complimentary) was a nice surprise. Great location too - near Grand Central station.

The staff was very gracious and accomodating. I believe the owner was there both the night we checked in and the day we left and was pouring us wine and chatting with us. The hotel is brand new, the room was a very nice size and extremely clean. The location of the hotel for seeing a show and being in the heart of things was great.
