Hotel Shangri-La is on a high bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, just steps away from the beach. The hotel is within walking distance of restaurants, boutiques and the lively Santa Monica Pier. Just 20 minutes from the Los Angeles International Airport, the hotel is a short drive from The Getty Center, Malibu and Rodeo Drive. The 1939 Art Deco building has been meticulously redesigned for today to include a courtyard pool with stunning ocean views and lush landscaping. In-room spa services are available, as well as an outdoor exercise and yoga deck. Valet parking, a concierge and an international staff add to the convenience. The hotel’s 71 sleek, stylish guestrooms feature wireless Internet access, flat panel TVs, iPod docking stations and daily newspaper delivery. Plush Frette robes and Nature Green bath products add to the luxury. Following renovations the Hotel Shangri-La will also feature a sidewalk café, a rooftop bar, and lounge. Hotel Shangri-La's ocean view restaurant is now open and taking reservations. Marc Smith of Edison fame has hired local chef Noah Rosen to create an innovative menu inspired by the famous bi-weekly Santa Monica Farmer's Market adjacent to the hotel.

The hotel was very clean. The linens were very nice. The ocean view room was wonderful, there was even a view from the bathroom. The restaurant served great shoestring fries and a great burger and also has a great view of the water. The penthouse bar was wonderful for sunsets and great views of Santa Monica. Hotel was centrally located to all of downtown Santa Monica. The streets of Santa Monica were the cleanest streets I`ve ever seen. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. WOuld love to stay here again.

We were very pleased the accommodations and the service. The staff did everything they could to make our stay special. I mentioned it was my wifes birthday. When we got back from dinner, the evening staff had sent two cupcakes to the room. The hotel recently finished a renovation--the oceanfront room was very nicely done.
I would live here!

Check in was easy. James, the door man, is fantastic. I wish I could clone him. The hotel rooms have been remodeled. They are currently working on the deck. Construction begins early, but our daughter woke us up before that anyway. The room was fantastic. There is a glass wall separating the bathroom from the bedroom. I give props to the designer. They definitely had intimacy on their mind. Of the three hotels during our trip, this was my wife favorite. I would live there. Parking is steep. 33 dollars per night. I parked in a lot that was much cheaper. The bathroom alone is worth it!
