New York Times - May 15, 2005

Quikbook in particular is worth a stop if you're looking for independent or boutique hotels, and has added tools to help customers sort through its results, most recently adding the option to find hotels that serve a free breakfast.

With Quikbook, "...we were dealing with pros who knew the hotel business inside and out."
Laptop Magazine - September, 2004

"The best feature...is Shortcuts."
Booking a Room Online
How We Tested
The test case was to book a hotel room in New York City
for a two-night, midweek business trip. We decided that
the magic number was a three-star property at around $150,
which is a very modest amount to spend on lodging in Manhattan.
Quikbook
This site is about hotels and nothing but hotels. Quikbook
provides a feedback forum for each hotel that can prove
illuminating. We especially liked the hotel map feature on
the homepage, which can be very helpful if you’re interested
in a specific destination.
The best feature, though is the Shortcuts Quikbook offers
for speeding up your searches based on very specific criteria.
While we scrolled through Expedia, trying to find a hotel that
wasn’t at the airport, Quikbook easily found a winner at $169,
near Penn Station. It’s within a short walk of Midtown and a
good choice for business travelers. At this price level, it
represents good value.
Overall, we felt as if we were dealing with pros who knew
the hotel business inside and out. Quikbook is a simple,
well-designed site that permits you to see virtually
everything you need to know at a glance.
LAPTOP EDITOR’S CHOICE: Quikbook
Our nod goes to a site dedicated to selling hotels and
only hotels, Quikbook.com. It doesn’t serve up as many
listings as its larger competitors or cover international
locations, but it delivers great rates in the most popular
business-traveler destinations in North America. It also
has a Shortcut menu that lets you narrow your hotel search
by everything from proximity to a convention center to
high-speed Internet access.

Quikbook "ranks #1 for low rates and ease of use."
SmartMoney Magazine - March, 2004

Take Your Best Trip Ever
We went online and booked more than 800 imaginary trips
over 30 consecutive days on 12 of the most popular Web
sites
. Of course, we were after the best prices,
but ease of use, navigability, customer service and quality
of offers play a big part in the online booking experience,
so we considered those factors as well.
Here's where you'll find the deepest discounts by booking
online
. We much preferred Quikbook, which outdid all
the other sites, including hotels.com. Bonus points:
Quikbook's minimalist, uncluttered design is immensely easy
to use. It took us just minutes to get $195 a night for three
nights at New York's Soho Grand, while Expedia wanted $290
for the same room.
[In a head-to-head comparison with Hotels.com, SideStep,
Expedia, Orbitz, LastMinute Travel, Travelocity and
Cheap tickets] Quikbook found the best rate the most
times, works better and has some classier properties.

Consumer Webwatch found that
Quikbook's performance at providing the lowest hotels was 'comfortably ahead' of other [similar] sites."
Frommer's - January 9, 2004

Consumer's Union Solves the Mystery: What Online Site is Cheaper
Of the non-opaque sites, Consumer WebWatch found that Quikbook (www.quikbook.com ) was especially good for hotels. Quikbook's performance at providing the lowest hotel rates was "comfortably ahead" of other non-opaque sites, according to the Consumer's Union report. We agree; in the limited amount of cities Quikbook serves, we've generally found them to be a great resource for low hotel rates.

Quikbook offered the most flexibility
New York Times - November 2, 2003

Canceling Rooms Gets Trickier
"Cancellation charges are more of an issue now than they were in the past," said Ray Vastola, president of Quikbook.com. "It's something the customer needs to be mindful of if they enter into an agreement where there is a fee if they have to cancel."
Quikbook charges customers $10 to change or cancel a prepaid reservation, but no fee for reservations that are not prepaid
.
Most of Quikbook's competitors - including Hotels.com, Expedia, Orbitz and Travelocity - typically charge $25 to change or cancel a hotel reservation, plus the hotel's penalty. (Rooms booked through Hotwire and Priceline cannot be changed or canceled.)
[T]hese booking sites have different cancellation policies depending on the hotel
. For instance, I did a search for a two-night stay in Chicago at various Web sites, and came up with a $219-a-night rate at the [same hotel] at multiple sites
. Booking at the [hotels] site, there was a one-night penalty no matter how early you canceled, and a 100 percent penalty if you canceled within 48 hours of 4 p.m. the planned day of check-in. Expedia displayed nearly the same policy (the hour was different), plus its own $25 cancellation fee, and Orbitz had a similar policy, except that the full penalty kicked in if you canceled within 72 hours before noon of your arrival date.
But at Travelocity, you paid a one-night penalty (plus Travelocity's $25 fee) only if you canceled within two days of your planned check-in
and there was just the $25 penalty if you canceled earlier. Quikbook offered the most flexibility: you wouldn't pay any penalty if you canceled 24 hours before your arrival date (no stated time); after that, you'd pay a one-night fee
.

The brilliance of this promotion is that Quikbook is a place you should be shopping anyway.
Frommers.com September 8, 2003

The best kind of freebie is one you get for doing something you were going to do anyway. In the case of hotel discounter Quikbook, theyre giving away $15 L.L.Bean gift certificates to anyone who books and completes three hotel stays by December 31. There are no catches, no tricks, no hidden strings. Your hotel stays can be of any length, at Quikbooks lowest rates, at any hotel. Stay six times, get two certificates; stay nine times, get three. Sure, a $15 gift certificate towards duck boots isnt a free hotel night or flight to Fiji, but dont look a free sweater in the
uh, weave.
Youd Shop There Anyway
The brilliance of this promotion is that Quikbook is a place you should be shopping anyway. They often have the best rates for high-demand cities like New York and San Francisco
. The site also has a neat new feature in their ShortCuts page where you can see a list of hotels fulfilling any one of ten requirements, from historic hotels to pet-friendly hotels to places with high-speed Internet
. The ShortCuts list is
a good way to charge up your imagination.

"its prices often
beat those of the bigger sites"
Condé Nast Traveler May 2003

Quikbook has been a favorite among business travelers for years because its staff personally checks out each hotel and the site lists only those that it feels are the best value. And while Quikbook has just a fraction of the number of hotels youll find on other sites and handles only North American listings, its prices often match or beat those of the bigger sites. For higher priced cities such as New York and Orlando, Quikbook offers nonrefundable low-cost prepaid options. All other reservations can be changed or cancelled for a small refund, and so far the site charges no booking fees.

Reduced Rates on Some of the Swankier Rooms in the Big Apple
Frommers.com December 2002

The hotel reservations company, Quikbook.com, buys up blocks of discounted rooms and turns them into bargain opportunities for you. Were not kidding here. The hardest part is trying to pick just one, but the geniuses behind this site certainly go the distance with the assistance. They provide pictures of the properties and user reviews for starters. Plus they painstakingly detail absolutely everything youll get in a specific room.

..check it out for a good deal on luxury accommodations.
PC Magazine October 2002

This is the Web site of a long-respected booking service that has been selling discounted rates on upscale hotel rooms since 1988.
[C]heck it out for a good deal on luxury accommodations
. We were able to choose from the best hotels
often [for] hundreds of dollars less than we would have paid elsewhere
Since the site doesnt handle anything but hotels
its simple to use. The strongest feature is that Quikbooks staff visits and rates every hotel, so even if you cans see photos of everything, you benefit from a detailed and objective rating system. The site doesnt accept (or place) any advertising, which gives it a feel of independence. Theres no fee to cancel reservations.
