IMPORTANT: This hotel is not for everyone! It’s about as unconventional as they come, so please read this carefully:
The Jane is an affordable, no frills "microhotel" located in the storied West Village/Meatpacking District area at 113 Jane Street, right on the Hudson River. Originally built as a hotel for sailors with cabin-like rooms, the landmarked hotel was recently restored by the team that did the Maritime Hotel and the Bowery Hotel.The Jane caters to a younger crowd that is looking for a unique and stylish place to crash each night. Reminiscent of a ships’ cabins or railcar compartments, the rooms here are called “cabins” and they are tiny! They average around 50 square feet. Each cabin features a single bed, luggage rack, free wireless internet, telephone with voicemail, 23”-inch LCD television, DVD player, and iPod dock.
Please note:
All cabins share the communal bathrooms located at the end of the hall on each floor.
Be Advised:
Beginning 1/3/11, The Jane hotel will be making upgrades on their elevators. During this time there will be no elevator services. Quikbook and the hotel apologize for the inconveniece.

I love the location of the hotel, the ambience, the staff, the Cafe Gitane, and the staff`s response to my concerns about bedbugs (there were none in my room).

Delightfully renovated, clean and quiet. Desk clerk gave me a very quiet room when I requested it. The restaurant, which was in the hotel, was charming and the food was delicious. Free bike was perfect for getting around the Village. The one elevator made for some waiting, but I just planned for it.

Great hotel for the money, especially in NYC. Attentive staff, charming atmosphere and neighborhood. Room was small, but I knew that ahead of time, I do not spend much time in my hotel room anyway, so it was perfect. Best of all, it was clean as was the shared bathroom. Privacy doors on the showers and toilet. Felt safe. Would absolutely stay here again.

Very friendly, clean and safe. Convenient to everything i needed. Shared bathroom was not at all uncomfortable. Never had to wait. Very quiet (for a NYC hotel) only heard a few neighbors come and go. Excellent service. Would stay there again. Thanks The Jane!

I loved the hotel. The first thing is its wonderful staff, friendly, incredibly helpful and attentive, fun to talk to. Secondly, the rooms that are small but have everything one needs, including AC, good lighting, adequate space for your luggage that doesnt clutter the room, bathrobe and slippers. The bathroom is sparkling clean and I never had to wait. Adding to all that its location in West Village, the beautiful building with its magic lobby, wooden panelling and the mirror walls, makes it a hotel that I thought only existed in dreams - a wonderful place that the not-so-rich can also enjoy. Thank you, Jane.

The Jane is a microhotel - it wouldn`t work for family travelers but for the individual, budget-minded traveler who doesnt want to sacrifice style or comfort, its great! The room is small but I felt very, very comfortable. Everything was within reach. Yes, the hotel is still undergoing renovations, but I cannot complain. The staff were super friendly, and the bathrooms were immaculate. The rooms were decorated very nicely.
